The JCPC Logo
In 1994 after extensive discussion
about the vision for The Church of the Hills (COH), its pending
birth, its focus on Jesus Christ, its mission and its hope in God
-- our original logo was created, incorporating several theological
and biblical themes. One is from Isaiah 53 -- the "tender
shoot [growing] out of the ground."
A second is from Acts 2 and Luke 3
--the fire of the Holy Spirit symbolizing a new beginning and the
figure of a dove, the symbol of the Spirit. A third theme is
the unusual cross formed by the lines of the logo, and the three
crosses -- reminding us of the cross of Jesus Christ and the scene
at Calvary [Mark 15]. The fourth theme is represented by the
whirling, unrefined brush strokes, together with the font type used
for the name of the church -- symbolizing the unfinished, yet
progressive vision being pursued on these rolling hills of Johns
Creek.
In 2009, our session and
congregation voted to chnage the name of the church to Johns Creek
Presbyterian Church to more accurately represent our presence
within the growing Johns Creek city and community. We kept the
design elements of our original logo and added a new classic but
more contemporary font.
