Confirmation at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church

"The Confirmation process helped me to understand and talk through the beliefs that my parents and The Church had always taught me. In the end I was ready to say, 'This is what I believe. I believe in Jesus as my Savior. I believe in the Father and the Holy Spirit…' It wasn't my parents' faith. Now it was in my heart and mind, and I could call it my own."

The Confirmation Program Confirmation at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church is a year-long spiritual journey designed for Youth in the 7th-12th grades. The program consists of three very important parts: the classroom course; a Faith Partner program; and participation in the retreat.

Each Confirmand will be asked to sign a commitment form with their parents stating that they will participate fully throughout the year. Once the course work is completed, each Confirmand will decide for themselves if they are ready for Confirmation. Should they decide they are ready to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and become full members of Johns Creek Presbyterian Church, they will be asked to write their own personal statement of faith to share with their Church family.

The Classroom Course Each Confirmand will receive the workbook Discovering…Choosing…Following…Jesus Christ, by Rev. William H. Venable. It consists of twenty-two lessons which they are to complete.

The course is designed to help the Confirmand discover the Bible as the Word of God, and Jesus Christ as the source of salvation and life. It leads the Confirmand to respond to God's grace by making a personal decision to follow Christ, and to join the Church-- the place for redeemed fellowship and service

The Faith Partners Program A well respected member of the Church will be assigned to each Confirmand to serve as a mentor throughout the year.  In the fall, they will spend some social time getting to know each other. Throughout the year, the Faith Partners will meet with their Confirmand to discuss their journey through the course, answer questions and read the Gospel of Mark together.

Confirmation Retreat The highlight for many Confirmands is the wonderful weekend retreat. This year the retreat was held at the Calvin Center.  Some highlights were: Brad Sherrill performing the Gospel of John from memory, the High Ropes Course, time for fellowship and thought provoking discussions.
