6. Our community missions include many that use these buildings: Scouts, AA, Preschool, Fine Arts Academy, Korean and Brazilian churches all occupy and use these buildings every week.

7. Many wonderful rites of passage have occurred here, from baptisms and weddings to funerals.

8. Our community has evolved into a city that didn’t exist into one of the 10 largest cities in the State.

But, one thing has not changed; the base system securing our premises has remained the same; we have added a few cameras, but the core of our security is now over 30 years old. The operating system we run it on was obsolete 20 years ago. To say it is cumbersome and out of date for the people we serve is an understatement. Its on its last legs.

Our Church leadership has determined that now is the time to stop waiting for something bad to happen and upgrade our system to current technology; updated door locks and enhanced camera coverage, both inside and outside the walls of the Church.

Enhanced monitoring capabilities and flexible systems that can adapt as our needs change.

After significant time to study our needs and evaluate providers, we have selected a vendor and a system that will accomplish our goals.

With that said, our challenge now is to fund this project. We have elected to initiate a Sprinter Campaign, which started on Sunday, August 30th and run for 4 weeks. Our goal is to raise $41,000 which is roughly half of the money needed for this capital project. Why half?

We have been blessed by a generous donor, who will “match” our donations $$ for $$.

We will be asking not only our members for donations, we will be asking all of the groups that use our facilities regularly, to help us fund this project. In fact our Scout 1000 troop has already agreed to contribute $5000 to this worthy initiative, and also $1000 each year for its ongoing maintenance.

So with that momentum in place, we are asking each of you to prayerfully consider a contribution for this most important need for the Church.

Thank you for your support of this campaign. You can make your contribution and commitment in a number of ways. Our on line contribution system now has a line to make a contribution to the “Security” Sprinter Campaign. You can fill out a pledge by using one of our gifting envelopes in the pews and write in your name and commitment, and place it in the offering plate. Finally you can make a donation in the offering plate; just designate on your check or on the gifting envelope that your gift is for the Security Campaign.

One other thing I would mention; with the year end approaching and many of us older members needing to take their minimum withdrawal from IRA’s, this a great opportunity to leverage your savings and gift for a great cause to our Church.

We will keep you up to date on the campaign and its progress. Help us make the Church a safe place for all us who make JCPC their Church home and also those who make our church a home to their community interests.
